Dear Wendy,

Thank you for all that Brookhaven Manor did for my mother and me.

My mother lived at Brookhaven Manor for 4 years and we both were very happy with the apartments, the service, and the staff.  Having a balcony significantly added to the light and the sense of space in the apartment.  I feel sorry for the seniors who live where everything is closed in.  Being right in Ann Arbor made it much easier to visit my mother often, and to be there within minutes if there was an emergency.

Brookhaven was just the right size for us as well.  It is large enough that you can meet many different people, but small enough that you recognize most of the residents.  You come to know the people in the office, the maintenance staff, the beauty salon, and the kitchen staff very well.  The employees at Brookhaven really cared about my mother and went out of their way to help her on many occasions.

There is an atmosphere of friendliness that is very pleasant.  You rarely pass a resident or a staff person without exchanging a smile.  The dining room is buzzing with conversation.

I visited 9 retirement communities/facilities before I chose Brookhaven.  Some of the are grim and austere, and Brookhaven is the opposite of that.  The only reason that my mother later moved to an assisted living situation is because she came to need 24-hour care.

It is not easy to choose a retirement apartment.  In my opinion, Brookhaven Manor is one of the best.

Superlatives are the best way to characterize the the friendliness, competence and the feeling of being home in this community.  From the Executive Director and all of her staff, residents receive a warm genuine smile and help.  Outstanding is descriptive of their service, or one might call it their mission in life.
